Aims

Our English Language Curriculum aims to:

• Develop students’ confidence and competence in communicating through English
• Provide an engaging and authentic learning environment
• Foster self-directed learning by encouraging students to identify their learning needs, set goals, select strategies, and reflect on their progress

Overview

Our learner-centered English curriculum emphasizes practical communication skills and offers rich learning opportunities both inside and outside the classroom. Through a language-rich environment, we inspire a love for English and equip students with essential skills across all four language domains.

Curriculum Highlights

P.1-3: Space Town Literacy Programme
Designed by the EDB, this program enhances early literacy with guided reading, phonics, and self-directed learning tools to build foundational skills and communicative competence.

P.4-6: General English with Lighthouse Textbook + S2W Scheme +
Authentic Readers
Building on earlier stages, students use Lighthouse textbooks, school-based materials and EDB materials like “Speaking to Writing (S2W)” to strengthen oral and written communication. Cross-curricular projects and technology integration enrich learning experiences.

Reading Development

We explicitly teach reading skills and promote home reading using the epic! e-platform. Guided reading supports comprehension and fluency with level-appropriate texts.

Enrichment & Support

Our diverse programs include English debate, puppetry, public speaking, and storytelling to enrich learning. Remedial and after-school supplementary classes provide timely support for students needing extra help.

Assessment & Reflection

Students regularly engage in self-evaluation, peer feedback, and portfolio development to monitor progress and set learning goals, fostering ownership of their learning journey.
 

e-Learning Integration

We enhance teaching with digital tools like Padlet, Seesaw, and Kahoot across pre-lesson, in-lesson, and post-lesson stages.

Catering for Learner Diversity

• Enrichment: public speaking, storytelling and debate teams
• Intervention: Remedial classes and after-school supplementary classes
